Online Therapy in Florida

Connecting virtually has been an ever-increasing part of our lives since the invention of the internet. And since 2020, it seems we have found ways to make just about any interaction virtual from work meetings to college classes, and even mental health counseling.

You may have heard about a plethora of online therapy options and wondered whether they are as effective as meeting with a counselor in person. Research suggests that online therapy is comparable to in-person therapy as it pertains to quality of care, reliability of assessments, and treatment outcomes. It also has its drawbacks, including reliance on internet connectivity and functioning devices, as well as limiting nonverbal communication which can inform a counselor or client as to how the other is feeling.

All things considered, virtual therapy can be a great fit for many, and the benefits can outweigh the drawbacks depending on your situation. The option of telehealth therapy breaks down many barriers which can typically make counseling less accessible, including the following:

  1. 1. It eliminates the need for travel. This makes it possible to schedule an appointment with your therapist in the middle of a busy day, and makes it easy to receive care if you don’t have access to reliable transportation.
  2. It allows you to engage in therapy from the comfort of your home, which can be a relief if you have limited mobility or energy, or need to care for someone at home.
  3. Online therapy increases your options. Instead of needing to choose a therapist within your zip code, you can now meet with any therapist licensed in your state that offers telehealth services. This can enable you to widen your search to find a therapist that is an ideal fit for you.

If you’re seeking online therapy in Florida, consider Resonate Counseling. My office is in Orlando, but my credentials are valid throughout the state of Florida.
