At Resonate, you will be working with a counselor who is a Christian and can incorporate both the worldview and the practices of our faith into our work together. My work is anchored in scientific research and evidenced-based practices, and yet founded on a Christian understanding of the creation of our minds and bodies, and the conditions of our souls. These two marry very well together, and it is truly remarkable to see how well empirical psychological research harmonizes with a Biblical understanding of humankind.
I had the privilege of receiving my graduate education in the Master’s of Arts in Counseling program housed in Reformed Theological Seminary. It is accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling & Related Educational Programs (CACREP), which means its objectives, content, experiences, faculty qualifications, and governance all meet essential quality standards for the formation of competent and ethical counselors. In addition to meeting these requirements, I was also taught and led by Christian men and women who incorporated their perspectives on our shared faith and its interaction with the counseling profession into their teaching. I also took six classes in theology and Biblical studies to establish my own faith and can naturally incorporate a Biblical worldview in my work with clients.
Whether you’re specifically looking to process matters of faith, desiring a counseling experience that incorporates prayer and scripture, or seeking to explore and work through your symptoms through a Christian worldview, I am happy and equipped to incorporate elements of spirituality into our work together as we see fit and appropriate to your healing goals. You don't have to be a Christian in order for us to do fruitful work together. My faith is central to my life and undergirds my work as a counselor in that it informs the way I understand our humanity and healing; for example, I believe our common psychological needs, desires, and tendencies are an expression of our creation in the image of God. It’s okay if you simply see them as parts of the human experience. I was trained to meet clients right where they are at in terms of their worldview and spirituality. As I write this, the majority of my clients are not Christians, and our work together is not hindered by our different worldviews. I would be honored to come alongside, serve, and support you in your healing journey, no matter what you believe.
